I get asked a lot if I eat low carb or follow any specific diet - here is the deal: no & no. I do believe that fueling your body with nutrient rich foods IS important and so is educating yourself around that. I also have the biggest sweet tooth and love food! So I eat intuitively and focus on quality of ingredients when I can afford it.
If following a specific diet works for someone, I support that! I know myself and when I restrict, I binge, get frustrated with myself and the cycle continues - not worth it or fun.
I do find that low carb can be helpful at times (like on days where I have important things going on want there to be less blood sugar variability or just don’t want to think about diabetes)…so I do purposely eat low carb meals here and there when it feels good. I also have learned how to dose insulin to allow me to eat high carb foods I love and still have blood sugars I love. Both are possible.
I walked by this cinnamon roll this morning a few times at the grocery store before “letting myself” get it. My relationship with food isn’t perfect and I do credit a lot of that to living with t1d. It is freaking hard to eat intuitively when you have to focus on carbs/numbers all the time!! So as soon as I noticed that fight in my head this morning regarding this food - I went and picked it up. NO regrets. Life is too short and food is meant to be enjoyed ♥️
